What happened to my Tracking ID?

Google Analytics 4 properties use a Measurement ID instead of a Tracking ID.

  • If you set up a Google Analytics 4 property with a Web data stream, you have a Measurement ID (which begins with “G-“).
  • If you set up a Universal Analytics (“Web”) property (Universal Analytics properties have views instead of data streams), you have a Tracking ID (which begins with “UA-“).

Find your page tag (and “G-” or “UA-” ID)

  1. Sign in to Analytics.
  2. Click Admin.
  3. In the Account column, check that you have the desired account selected (directly below the “+Create Account” button at the top).
  4. In the Property column, check that you have the desired property selected, then click Data Streams > Web.
  5. Click the data stream.
Your “G-” ID (i.e. your Measurement ID) appears in the upper right portion of the panel. Your global site tag appears under Tagging Instructions.Don’t see a Data Streams option in the Property column? You have a Universal Analytics property. In the Property column, click Tracking Info then Tracking Code. Your “UA-” ID appears in the upper left portion of the panel. Your global site tag appears under Website Tracking.
